Hydraulic Reservoir Breather Filter

A hydraulic reservoir breather filter allows air to enter and exit a hydraulic tank as fluid levels change, while filtering out dust and moisture. It plays a key role in protecting oil cleanliness within the system.

As hydraulic oil heats and cools, air movement through the breather is unavoidable. If filtration is inadequate or the element becomes blocked, contaminants can enter the system or pressure can build within the reservoir.

Breather filters are checked as part of routine servicing, particularly on vehicles operating in dusty environments or where hydraulic oil temperature sensor readings are monitored and universal hydraulic oil is used across mixed fleets.
